Charles Clemence was born in Belfast, Northern  Ireland in 1971.  He moved to Caiscais in Portugal in 1975. Charles studied Fine Art at Liverpool Art College in the UK and then returned to work at the Fabrica de Sant Ana in Lisbon, painting ceramics and hand made tiles.  He opened his own business in Estremos in 1992 making stoneware then in 2002 moved down to the Algarve producing hand made tiles.  In 2007 he successfully turned his hand to canvas and now specializes in large canvases, in many diverse styles.
